Vivekananda was born on 12 January 1863 in Calcutta. His father's name was
Vishwanath Dutt and mother's name was Bhubaneswarvi Devi. Before attaining
Sanyas, his name was Narendranath Dutt and was also known as Naren. Swami
Vivekanand, in the form of young ascetic, who had scattered the essence of
Indian culture abroad, was a great scholar of philosophy and history. Swami

religion, he is generally known by the name of Siddhartha Gautam,
Shakyamuni Buddha and Buddha. Gautam Buddha was born in 563 BC, near the
Shakya province of Capital Kapilvastu, in Lumbini in the clan of Kshatriya
(Shakya Kul), in the house of Father Shuddhodhan and mother Mahamaya,
which is in Nepal now. But a few months after his birth, his mother died.
