Importance of Value Education in Schools
Value Education is imparting the knowledge about the ideals that a society deems important. Present education system in India can make you intelligent but not wise. As a student, we are expected to follow the rules and regulations to get adorable scores which in turn can help us get a good job. In short, we are following the pattern which can make us wealthy and provide us luxuries of life. What about the other things we must do to make our life meaningful. Thus, there is a need for inclusive education for overall development of the students.
The aim of value education for students is not only to understand the values, but also to reflect them in their attitudes and behavior, and contribute to society through good citizenship and ethics. It is necessary to have basic values and philosophies in place that will make our children responsible citizens in the future.
Parents and teachers now understand the importance of teaching beyond the syllabus. They realize that values can be taught well at an early age (early childhood education) and schools are the best place to impart knowledge about rights and wrongs, how one can lead a good life, things required to sustain in today's competitive world and so on. There is a need of inclusive education which comprise of value education and regular education aimed at enhancing knowledge. Primary schools should arrange sessions of value education topics for high schools.
At the end of the day, it is only a values-based education system that can lead to the human development of the country. Our country's Ministry of Education and State Board's Department of Education should emphasis heavily on this serious subject and try to implement it in curriculum.
What are the values that constitute Value Education?
Democratic, Secular, Equality, Dignity, Liberty and Justice of every citizen and integrity of the nation are the
ideals that constitute value education. Human beings have to follow some social norms as being members of the society. These limitations of society are qualities of virtue, which includes truth, good conduct, benevolence, humility and non-violence.
If we want to give a name to these qualities, they all come under virtue. Virtue is such a broad word in which society has to follow almost all the norms. Therefore, virtue is the most important of the social order.
The word virtuous is compound, it is composed of two words - truth + ethics, which is the meaning of best conduct, that method of living, in which there is a co-ordination of Sat, in which there is no such thing which can be said asat. Virtue is the best thing in the world. Vidya, art, poetry, wealth or revenue cannot compare any virtue. Virtue is an eternal source of light.
All the qualities of the world are rooted in virtue. From virtue, the body is healthy, the mind is pure and the mind is happy. Virtue us shows the route. Virtue is a huge source of hope and trust. The virtuous man can achieve any welfare in the world.
With virtue, one can achieve good age, desire for children and uneconomical riches. Without virtue, the life of a human being is hollow because of which he can never advance. Character is the power of virtuous person.
Without virtue or good character, it is not possible to achieve great accomplishment of any great work. Real success that the good-hearted person achieves cannot be achieved by evil person. The person who does not follow good conduct is considered abominable in society. The evil person is condemned in the world. He is constantly diseased and diseased and his age is also low.
The mischievous human cannot elevate themselves, their society and their nation. A person's life without virtue is due to being sin-free and degrading. Such people are not comfortable with people in this world. They never obtain grace in the world.
The word 'ethics' is so important; it cannot be easily forgotten. Virtue is not the product of mangoes or berries that can be broken by any tree or bought from the market. Virtue is the object of conduct, not speech. The language of virtue is muted, it does not speak. The cornerstone of whole life is student life. Therefore, the foundation of this life-form must be strong from charity, truthfulness, truthfulness etc.
In the practice of virtue, we should always avoid the bad environment, because staying in a bad environment is difficult to avoid the effect of our efforts. We should spend more time in the reading and reading of the religious texts such as Gita, Ramayana, Shrimad Bhagavat, Quran Sharif, Bible, Tripitika, the autobiography of great men, for our virtues. It is clear that the practice of virtue is essential for the development of self, society and the nation. Virtue gives humanity divinity. The earth with this moral compass is heaven.

important?
- Value education teaches you wise use of your knowledge. Intelligence without value education is like knife in the hand of child. He may either cut himself while playing with it or harm someone else.
- Absence of value education can lead to self destruction and destruction of society at large. Moral awareness should be practiced with the progress of science & technology towards the welfare of mankind.
- It infuses morality, ethics and etiquette in the person and makes him well behaved.
- A quote from the movie Spider-man “With great power comes great responsibility”. This should get applied in our day to day life for every human being.
- Value education differentiate a human being from just a living being. It is a journey from just being a man to be a noble man with ethics, moral values.
- Lack of Value Education at an early age reflects the situation of the society. On the other hand, proper value education reduces rate of crimes like burglary, rapes and murders etc.
- Common values should be re-discovered to unite human. It has been helping greater preservation of cultural values, traditions leading to social harmony.
- It provides basic foundation to identify difference between good and bad.
- It is more efficient tool than fear of punishment through legal actions when it comes to making people law abiding citizens.
- Value education reduces inequality in society and gap between rich and poor, as poor are not exploited by riches of the society which ultimately leads to Good governance.
- Everyone work towards welfare of the society and environment preservation. Value Education helps in Promoting Social and Natural Integration. Prosperous society in its true sense.
